CUTC – The Downtown Night

Posted by Skrud at Tuesday, January 17th 2006 at 1:40pm

For the downtown night, there were busses that left CUTC at 9:30pm, getting downtown around 10:00pm, and they were scheduled to take us back to the hotel at 1am… that’s normally when the party starts. Geez. Anyway, that’s what we were stuck with. We first tried to go to the Piccadilly Circus, which was our favourite hotspot last year. Unfortunately, they were closed for letting in a minor and “allowing drunkenness”, which are both prerequisites to having a bar in Quebec as far as I know. Disappointed we tried to find a place to go to.

The bulk of Concordia’s group ended up at Joe, while most others went to clubs like Essence and Tonic. We were going to join them, then discovered that Joe had 50-cent beers. They weren’t full bottles, but about two of them equals a bottle, and that’s about a dollar. So we’d buy them by the dozen, and then race to chug them. Shortly thereafter Joe filled up with girls, lots of girls, most of whom were probably jailbait, so we ran up to the heated roof terrasse (considering the temperature was something like 7 degrees above zero, we didn’t need the heating).

We had a 6/49 up there, consisting of:

  • Crème de Menthe
  • Sour Puss
  • Southern Comfort

Believe it or not, it was amazing.

Then we went down to the first floor and had a 6/49 mod 2 (they only had two rows of bottles): I don’t remember what was in it, but it contained Vodka, and it was also awesome.

Around 1 we ran back to the bus.

The drunken bus ride back had those of us who had been to Eng Games leading the group in some of the songs that we’d learned, namely the Days of the Week (Concordia-ified). SFU led a couple of their chants. There were like, 5 Waterloo people rounding out the bus and that’s about it. We tried singing a bunch of rock songs, like Eye of the Tiger (à la Eng Games). Unfortunately we didn’t remember any of the French songs, which sucks, because they’re the dirtiest of the bunch.

We did manage to make up new verses to I Used to Work in Chicago, and nerdy ones at that. (To be revealed at CS Games).

Then off to play with SFU by drinking in their room.

    Hey Skrud,

I’m sorry I missed out on the antics, I was really looking forward to some more 6/49’s with you this year, but circumstances did not permit. If you’re still in school next year I’ll try to make it for one more CUTC!
