Megatokyo Translation

Okay, so given my limited Japanese I tried to translate the latest Megatokyo strip which has Kimiko speaking to Largo in Japanese. Piro’s note said “Don’t speak Japanese? Neither does Largo :P”. So given that, if you really want to know what she’s saying, you can check the megatokyo forums since they probably did a better job than me. (Mind you, the translation seems almost identical so I guess I’m getting better at it!).

Anyway, here’s my version of the translation…

Dame!! Onegai dakara, nigenaide kudasai! Erika wa Largo-san wo kizutsukeru tsumori janakatta desu yo!

だめ！！お願いだから、逃げないで下さい！ エリカはラルゴさんをきずつける積もりじゃなかったですよ！

“Stop!! Please!! Don’t run! Erika didn’t intend to hurt you!”

Tsumetai ningen ni mieru kamo shirenai kedo, hontou wa kokoro no yasashii ko desu yo!

冷たい人間に見えるかも知れないけど、本当は心の優しい子ですよ！

“She may appear cold to people, but really in her heart she’s a gentle girl!”

Erika wa ne, nandomo kizutsuite mou nido to hito ni kokoro wo hirakanai to omotteru dake desu.

エリカはね、何度も傷ついてもう二度と人に心を開かないと思ってるだけです。

“Erika has been hurt badly many times and her heart and feelings are closed to people”

(this one’s terrible… I’m not going to quit my day job)

Demo sore wa tada no tsuyogari desu. Hontou wa onaji koto ga kurikaesareru no wo totemo kowagatterun desu yo, Largo-san. Demo, Erika wa ne, kitto Largo-san ni akiramete hoshikunai to omoimasu yo. Sore shinjitemasu!

でもそれはただの強がりです。本当は同じことが繰り返されるのをとても怖がってるんですよ、ラルゴさん！ でも、エリカはね、きっとラルゴさんに諦めて欲しくないと思いますよ。それ信じてます！

“But that’s only to make her seem stronger. The truth is that she’s afraid of the repeating the same thing over again. But Largo, surely Erika doesn’t want you to give up! Believe me!”

Dakara, moshi erika no koto ga sukoshi demo suki dattara, akiramenaide kudasai. Akiramemasen yo ne, Largo-san. Yakusoku shite kuremasu?

だから、もしエリカのことが少しでも好きだったら、諦めないで下さい。 諦めませんよね、ラルゴさん。約束してくれます？

“So if you like her even a little please don’t give up! Don’t give up, Largo-san, promise me?”

Yakusoku?

約束？

“Promise?”
